This isn't 'Miss Congeniality's third outing. It is yet
another detective-comedy starring Sandra Bullock. Here is our review of 'THE
HEAT'.

Sandra Bullock's strongest films are romantic comedies. She
has done alright with dramas but Box Office numbers aren't as great as she'd
like. Why not boost BO numbers with another comedy and invite an actress that
is enjoying a great time in both movies and TV: Melissa McCarthy.
The story tells us about FBI agent 'Ashburn' who in order to
get a desired promotion has to prove to her boss, played by Mexican actor Demián
Bichir, that she can get along with other agents. He sends her to a Boston
suburb to team-up with street agent 'Mullins'. An officer that is quite efficient
even though, her methods are a slight unorthodox, to say the least.
Their mission is to stop a group of drug dealers before
Mullins' family is threatened to death and Ashburn looses all chance to become
more than just an agent. This won't be easy since their methods are complete
opposites and to achieve their goals they will have to find some grey area and
work as a team.
The film has some good moments, the performances are what
you'd expect and the story has the needed seriousness for the genre.
Too bad director Paul Feig exploits none of these points to
the fullest. The movie feels old, with recycled jokes and situations; it does
make you laugh out loud a couple of times but it never builds momentum to take
off and become a memorable film.
