Mobsters, dark comedy, anger issues and delicious food.
These and more is what Luc Besson's new film has to offer. This is our review of 'THE FAMILY'.

We're going to keep this short simply because it is a dark
comedy filled with bursts of anger and it immediately becomes one of our
favorite films for it, and thus it might lead to an unfair review.
The story tells us about the Blake family. In the film's
first sequence we're told they are moving and not for the first nor second
time; it seems they do this on a regular basis.
'Fred', played by Robert De Niro, the man of the house,
shows us he isn't a normal father when, before doing anything else, he secretly
buries a pair of bodies in his new home's backyard.
Little by little we find out that this is not a normal
family and that they all have similar ways of handling with daily life, which
makes for a very entertaining movie to watch.
The editing is one of the film's best qualities. It doesn't
try anything new but with little jumps in time and daydreaming sequences it
keeps us alert from the family's misadventures and mishaps.
The story isn't anything new but thanks to Besson's touch
(who by the way had let us down with his previous film 'THE LADY') it feels
fresh.
Robert De Niro gives us his trademark mobster look he always
has, but the one that did surprise us was Michelle Pfeiffer as his wife
'Maggie'. She was awesome!
Joining these pair of movie icons are Dianna Agron and Tommy
Lee Jones, to name a few.
This is quite an entertaining film that even though the
story isn't something we haven't seen before, it does tell it in a different
way.
