A daring movie with an almost taboo-like topic. This is our
review of 'ADORE'.

Boy have we had luck picking films without huge budgets
lately. We picked this one thinking it was going to be a slightly different
story told the same way every other one with topics that, socially speaking,
fall in the forbidden category.
Huge is the surprise we got instead.
The story tells us about two lifelong friends.
Robin Wright and Naomi Watts play 'Roz' and 'Lil'
respectively. They live on an earthly paradise at the edge of the sea in
Australia. They each have a son who by the looks of it, are the same age or
very close to it. They, 'Ian' and 'Tom', are athletic, surfers and as close
friends and their mothers are.
When Ian breaks every socially known rule or law and
satisfies his carnal desires with his best friend's mother, a chain of events incurs
that will change all of their lives forever.
Truth be told, this film is full of unforgettable moments.
And we aren't just talking the obvious sensual ones, but the performances that
all four lead actors and actresses provide throughout. The story doesn't mess around;
it moves along with everything going on and never lets go. Just when you think
Anne Fontaine, the film's director, will choose the easy way and fill the
screen with soap-opera-like drama, she picks the better path and keeps an
artistic feel in the narrative.
This movie is really worth watching. Many of you might be
thinking that there are many European films like this one, but we think 'Adore'
has something to offer others don't: it is being shown on every movie complex
and not just in art theaters.
