Since this film is now the highest ever-grossing
Mexican-made film in that country's history, its debut in U.S., Latin American
and European theaters is pretty much a fact in the coming months. To give you
guys a hand, here is our review in English language for 'NOSOTROS LOS NOBLES'
or 'THE NOBLES FAMILY'.
'German Noble' is a high society businessman who lost his
wife some years back. The responsibility of raising his kids fell solely on
him; one daughter and two boys that have no knowledge nor make a habit of
practicing humility. Their credit cards, paid by their father, are their most
used items.
'German' reaches a point of no return when he realizes that
the quality of life he has provided his children might be too much. In the
blink of an eye he pulls the plug on all financial help cancelling their credit
cards and putting them to work for a living.
It may sound like many other movies we've seen before, but
the writer/director Gary Alazraki does a great job at making the story more
relatable, different and fun.
We don't want to spoil it for you but unfortunately when you
think this might be one of the best Mexican films in recent years, the movie
arrives to its conclusion and it is a disappointing one: Predictable and
self-contradictory.
It began its third month in theaters this past weekend in
Mexico. It looks to stay there for at least a few weeks more. Make sure you look for it on your local artsy theater.
Very close to being 'popcorn worthy' but falls short.
8.5/10 Worth the Ticket Price.
