Comedy Producer of the moment 'Judd Apatow' brings us this
semi-sequel to 'Knocked-Up', 'THIS IS 40'.
The story follows 'Peter' and 'Debbie' from the previous
film in the week they are both turning 40 and their daughters begin growing up;
one is a rebellious teenager and the other is desperately seeking for attention
from anyone in her family.
For 'Debbie' reaching 40 represents acknowledging that she
ain't a college girl nor a modern mom anymore; she is a housewife with dreams
of having a kick-ass fashion store that will allow her to help her household
financially.
'Peter' started his own musical talent distribution company,
which is in serious trouble since he only signs bands he has personal interests
in.
The movie doesn't try to tell us an amazing story nor one
full of misunderstandings, it just tells us about what life was, is or will be
for us all at one time or another.
It has some fun times, a lot of popular culture references
and long sequences with sub-plots that take too long to develop.
It isn't one of 'Apatow's' best films, it might not even be
on the same level of some of his previous works, but it is funny for the most
part.
6.5/10 Worth the Ticket Prize.
