Review: OBLIVION

Tom Cruise's new film "OBLIVION" doesn't provide us with as many sci-fi elements as we'd expect, but the ones in it are quite good.

'Jack' (Cruise's character) is half of a 'drones' maintenance crew that protect machines that transform the water of the oceans into energy so it can then be transported to humans' new home in the universe.

This is a complex story that takes its time to develop, offers very few elements to the audience so they can understand what is going on and what happened with our planet after it was invaded by aliens.

During the first hour there are simple but cool visual elements that make the lack of information given and action a little bit more tolerable (we didn't have a problem with this by any means, we are aware of the unwritten 60 minutes rule, we just hoped for more emotions).

Joining Cruise are Morgan Freeman and Andrea Riseborough, who by the way did a terrific job with a very small, supporting character.

The visual effects aren't anything we haven't seen before but they are well made and the cinematography helps them look even better.

This is a somewhat complex film that could be qualified as good by half the audience and as a middle of pack by the rest. We doubt that it will receive plain negative reviews.

As for us, we give it a solid 7/10 Worth The Ticket Price.
