Review: THOR THE DARK WORLD

May the Avengers saga continue. The god of Thunder is back in his new adventure 'THOR, THE DARK WORLD'.

It's no secret the least favorite film in the saga was 'THOR'. It was criticized as boring and with too much fantastic-like elements. Fans of the character were utterly disappointed.
Like everything in the world, and expanded universe as well, many believe this is character and his stories are the weakest link. In our opinion, it may be true, but not as much anymore.

This sequel achieves being a lot more entertaining than its predecessor in various aspects, especially with the action sequences and the ambiance.
The story tells us about a war fought thousands of years ago between Asgard, and the Dark Elves. It was all about a weapon with infinite powers that could help the Elves rule the 9 Kingdoms. Thanks to Odin's father, king of the Asgardians, they won the war after many battles.
The leader of the Elves, 'Malekith', then presumed dead, comes back to find the weapon, thought to be hidden in a place where nobody could find it. Now Thor must fight against the forces of evil and (sorry for the cliché line) prove that he can be the new king of Asgard. To achieve this goal he will have to get help from the one man he never thought he needed: his "brother" Loki.

*For those of you who want to see the film because Natalie Portman is in it, don't worry, she's in it plenty; her character is much more important in this movie and isn't just a pretty face to look at.

Analysis:
The film delivers what it promises- darkness. The happenings and everything going on is much obscure than in the first story. The villain, though not as interesting as other MARVEL ones, is interesting and manages to become an actual threat to the god of thunder.

The cinematography and the special effects jumped into light speed to catch up with other films of our times. This is a major plus that was missing from the first 'Thor' movie.

Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman also improved their characters' performances quite a bit. You can easily tell he understands where he needs to go with 'Thor', and she plays 'Jane' with far more depth and is not just a pretty face to look at (though her character has some of Twilight's Bella personality treats).

All in all the film gets closer to the level of other ones from The Avengers saga. The story is full of action sequences, comedy and memorable moments for the audience.

Obviously it is far from perfect; it has some things here and there that will make some of you twist and turn on your seats, but for the most part you'll have a nice time.

*Attention, there are TWO easter-egg sequences; one right after the main credits and another one (of much less importance) at the end of all the production credits.

We weren't expecting this flick to be half as entertaining, thus we recommend it and call it a-
8.6/10 GOOD POPCORN FUN.
