Review: THE HUNGER GAMES CATCHING FIRE

Fans of this trilogy, the highly anticipated sequel based on Suzanne Collins' best-selling novels has finally hit theaters worldwide. This is our review of 'THE HUNGER GAMES -CATCHING FIRE-'.

By Denisse Ayala (FSR Co-founder & Editor and huge 'The Hunger Games' fan)

Before anything else, this movie promised to be action-packed and boy did it deliver!
Everything that happened last time has changed Katniss' lifestyle. She must now lead a life as a Hunger Games winner, meaning, she has to go around all Districts showing how the Capitol has helped her change her life around and, to make matters worse, she has to do it Peeta at her side and it seems that he doesn't want to have anything to do with her. During their trip, she begins to take notice on how people are discontent with the way things are and how the Capitol is handling everything; people are starting to let their minds be heard thanks to the her and the little bit of hope she has given them with her victory.

Things back home aren't any easier. The girl with the flamed-costumes gets a frightening visit from the Capitol and what drives her over the edge comes when her and every other Hunger Games past-winner are forced to get back on the arena and fight to the death to be crowned the 75th Anniversary Edition Hunger Games Champion.

Analysis:
Something we've noticed missing in recent book-to-film adaptations was finally present in this movie: Respect for the original material! It's not like they told the story with commas and periods as it happens in the novel but they kept all the best and most important parts and even added some more action and drama. I think that makes for a worthy adaptation.

There's A LOT of action sequences but also plenty of moments designed to tell the story right and understandable for fans and unfamiliar folks alike. The film's rhythm isn't tiresome nor boring which makes for good entertainment for fans, teenagers, and everyone else.

I was also quite amazed with the improvement offered from the first film to this one and I hope it remains so because Francis Lawrence, the film's director, gave us a quality film and he's already working on the saga's final two films.

As far as technical aspects go, the narrative and the screenplay were pure gold. The movie creates interest and tension as the story moves along. By the way, the new characters for the story matched perfectly with the old ones.

I'm sorry for all of you who aren't fans but this film deserved a perfect score and I'm not about to give it anything lower than that. I am a fan of the books and I was completely satisfied; I can't ask for more, can I? (and the ending... my gosh, I cannot wait for the next film!)

10/10 WOW Can't miss this movie!
