Review: PACIFIC RIM

Fans of Japanese animation, especially of the "mecha" genre, pay special attention to this new movie, which may turn, into one of your all-time favorites. This is our review of PACIFIC RIM.

By Denisse Ayala
First of all, keep an open mind because Guillermo del Toro's new film isn't an "absolute copy" of this or that anime as it has been widespread throughout the net in the last few days. Yes, you can see the influence from that culture, but the film has plenty of visual and conceptual elements to shine on its own.

The narrative and the screenplay immerse you right into the story from the very beginning. Some of you may have a problem with how they 'solved' the problem with the timeline in order to advance the plot; others, like me, will see this as a good way to get to the action sequences right away.

Del Toro has been spoiling us with stories and visuals of high quality and this film is no exception; it succeeds in both areas. Designs for both the 'Jaegers' and 'Kaijus' are truly amazing and as far as the action sequences go, you can admire them in all their enormous glory.
One more thing worth mentioning is the soundtrack- Try and pay extra attention to it and you'll see what I mean. You'll want to add it to your collection, you'll see ;)

Opinion:
This is a story that entertains; you'll be at the edge of your seat when those majestic machines and creatures appear onscreen. By the way watch it on 3D, it is totally worth it. ¿Have we mention how awesome the action sequences are?

Bottom-line this is a movie that delivers what it promised: Giant Robots versus Monsters from another dimension. Kids, teens, and older audiences- go see it and have a great time.

8.9/10 Good Popcorn Fun!
