Review: Hitchcock

"HITCHCOCK" is the film that shows us a little about the life of one of Hollywood's more popular directors (or most even). Without telling us much we didn't already know it still manages to be quite entertaining.

Alfred Hitchcock, who can say they've never heard of him? How many haven't seen a single one of his films? The master of suspense is back on the big screen and this time he is on it for more than a moment. 'Anthony Hopkins' (Silence of the lambs, Titus, etc.) provides life to the renowned film director in this story that tells us what supposedly happen during the making of his film 'PSYCHO'.

Even if watching a documentary style feature film of such suspense masterpiece had been good enough for most, something would have still been missing from it. This is where this film takes its strength- showing us the personal life of Alfred and his wife, 'Alma', played by Helen Mirren (The Queen) who did an amazing job with her roll. The couple's idiosyncrasies make the movie quite interesting and easy to follow. In his efforts for making the best horror film of all time, Hitchcock's own psychosis shows up on screen as well and we are able to see what made him a different, gutsy and incredibly creative director.

To some 'HITCHCOCK' won't be more than a movie that tried to be original and failed. For others it can be a window that will allow them to "spy" on a cinema icon while they learn to appreciate his films more than ever (we include ourselves in this category of people).

8/10 Worth the Ticket Price.
