This week instead of the "Enjoy it on
your couch" review, I bring you this sports movie one- 'Trouble with the Curve' made its way
through theaters about 2 months ago.
One would think that Clint Eastwood
directed it since it has all the qualities required to be a grouch's movie, but
he didn't. He does play however, the main character 'Gus', which happens to be
a rendition of Eastwood himself (or at least the type of character he always
plays). Amy Adams joins the cast as 'Mickey', Eastwood's onscreen daughter.
They share a lot of screen-time and she did terrific holding her own. Justin
Timberlake (yes, JT) also has a roll, which he plays very smoothly and is, for
the most part, likeable. The story has one great thing going for it- it never
messes with anything it can't handle, though in the end, you kind of see how it
will all work out and that is never good. It is a sports movie, so obviously it
is not everybody. If you like baseball, you'll probably ignore all of the movie's
mistakes, but if you are a film geek like me, you'll leave the theater thinking
you watched a good movie that could have been great. 7.5/10 Worth the Ticket Price.
