Many will see the similarities between 'The
perks of being a wallflower' and another film, which had a more comedic tone by
the way, from the 90's 'Clueless', that showed us the lifestyle led by
teenagers of that decade almost to perfection.
This time we follow the character of
'Charlie', played by Logan Lerman, who is just beginning the difficult task of
surviving high school. He is a shy and a bit of an antisocial teen that enjoys
writing letters to himself, in the form of a diary per say. The first day of
school he meets a classmate with a great sense of humor who goes by the name of
'Patrick', played to perfection by Ezra Miller, and to not make this any longer
than it has to be, he has a gorgeous stepsister named 'Sam', played by Emma
Watson, a.k.a. Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter Saga. The trio become,
and some other HS seniors, become really good friends, and this works great for
Charlie since he now has the life he'd wanted for a long time- Good friends,
amazing life experiences to remember and even an English teacher that pushes
him to be proud of who he is.
The movie is a bit dramatic, but the comedy
and lifestyle of the main characters do a great job at lighting the mood.
A very good film that might already be out
on DVD, so go rent it, it deserves your time attention, though it falls just
shy of Popcorn Worthy (it wouldn't surprise me if many of you give it a higher
grade)- 8.5/10 Worth the Ticket Price, or Worth the Rental Fee in this case.
