Review: HER

It's time to explore love in a time where technology is everywhere and every way with the film 'HER'.

Director Spike Jonze is always telling us different and strange stories. This time, he tells us about 'Theodore', played by Joaquin Phoenix, a man who works for a company that writes letters and notes for special occasions.
When he buys the first operating system designed with an artificial intelligence, he meets 'Samantha', the entity inside his computer which, or better said- who, reacts in a natural way at every interaction with him. Little by little their "relationship" develops in very interesting ways.

Analysis and opinion:
The most important aspect is the story, but it wouldn't be fair to leave out the amazing job done by other departments. Cinematography, art direction and musical score were also great. The film takes place in a not-so-distant-future but doesn't take things too far and shows us a fair enough view of days to come.

Performances by Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson as 'Samantha' were superb; especially hers since she played a binary being discovering sentimental and emotional aspects of her "existence".

Jonze's screenplay is a true beauty; it talks about many and quite interesting aspects of self-love, effects of technology in anti-socialism in people and hence, the acceptance of romantic relationships started via binary ways of communication (dating websites and relationships that start on social networks like facebook).

We were in awe when we heard that this film was nominated for 'Best Picture' since it is neither a traditional film nor story and for the most part the Academy ignores such pictures. We know understand why it got a nod!

Gorgeous flick, with a superb screenplay in the likes of 'Midnight in Paris' and 'The Artist'.
10- WOW, CAN'T MISS THIS MOVIE.
