Review: CAPTAIN AMERICA THE WINTER SOLDIER

To mix it up a bit, MARVEL brings us a flick that isn't related to 'THE AVENGERS' saga as much. Oh right, outside of X-Men, everything is related to that saga. Enjoy of 'CAPTAIN AMERICA THE WINTER SOLDIER'.

By Staff
Lets get right to the point- even if you aren't big fans of the first avenger's first film, curiosity will get the best of you and you'll end up seeing this sequel.

The story begins, as our hero is a full-time S.H.I.E.L.D. soldier alongside Natasha Romanoff. They go on missions around the world under Nick Fury's command.
After one of these missions, the Captain feels deceived and turns to Fury to find out about the institution's dark side. Fury turns him away but things get complicated when a hired assassin attacks him.
All of S.H.I.E.L.D. is upside down and a colossal project within the institution is at the risk of being canceled. To make matters worse, the Captain is being hunted down by the institution, for being considered a traitor; in a form of advice, Fury warns him to trust no-one and this complicates his personal mission of finding out the truth about the institution.

Analysis and opinion:
The flick has something exceptional going for it: The winter soldier has a lot to do with the main plot but isn't the essential thing. There are A LOT of subplots going on that complement the overall Marvel Universe, as well as advancing the Captain's story and connecting it with the rest.

Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson as Captain America and Black Widow are the stars of the movie and man oh man did they do a great job. They play their characters flawlessly and, thanks to a great screenplay, they develop quite an interesting friendship.

The film is action-packed! And we don't mean like in the Avengers when most of it happens during the final sequences, but spread around evenly throughout 120 minutes. The editing flows nicely and there aren't any boring moments.

Anthony and Joe Russo's direction was top-notch. They had a vision on how to tell an entertaining story about Captain America while never leaving the rest of the Marvel Universe unattended.

Bottom-line, this movie is much better than the first one. The improvements are even better than the ones we got from Thor and Iron Man, though Hulk's remains the best one of them all. This, however, is a solid second best.
9.0 GOOD POPCORN FUN!
